Disclaimer: Weight-based moves, such as intrastate and interstate (i.e. long distance), are very difficult to estimate accurately by non-moving professionals. While noting the furniture is relatively straight-forward, calculating quantities and sizes of boxes is very commonly under-quoted (by customer).  Under-estimating boxes and non-furniture is generally the main reason estimates are incorrect.  When estimating boxes, remember that kitchens typically have 20-60 boxes (once packed) while most rooms’ average 5-10 boxes each.  All pictures, lamps, mirrors, hanging clothes, electronics (except TVs, microwaves and large speakers), loose glass and breakable items all must be boxed.  Again, ALL local moves must be assessed by a moving representative to provide the most accurate estimate.
