November 1987 John Lugar and Steve Steorts move a family to Florida as a one-time occurrence.

May 1988 Lugar and Steorts move another family to an Atlanta suburb.

May 25, 1988 Lugar and Steorts form Virginia Varsity Transfer in Roanoke County.

May 1990 John Lugar buys out Steve Steorts to become sole stockholder.

Summer 1990 Jesse "Chip" Lawrence joins company.

May 1991 Brad Harris joins company, serves as General Manager until 1995.

May 11, 1991 John Lugar graduates from Radford University; VVT becomes full-time.

March 1993 VVT rents first Colonial Avenue office with 200 square feet.

April 1993 Staff expands, begins to handle multiple daily jobs.

September 1993 VVT relocates major Allstate departments.
October 1993 Purchase of first company truck, VVT 101.

February 1994 Purchase of second company truck, VVT 102.

May 1994 Matt Mitchell joins company.

August 1994 VVT relocates Cox Cable to new facility in largest move to date.

February 1995 Two leased trucks, VVT 103 and VVT 104, added to fleet.

June 1995 VVT contracts to purchase state license from Tri-City Transport, a large, Bristol, Tn., moving company.

October 1995 Jesse "Chip" Lawrence named General Manager.

October 1995 VVT issued interstate license for authority in 48 states.

February 1996 Named "Roanoke's Best Moving Company" by readers of The Roanoker magazine.

March 1996 VVT gains state license after completing license hearing and purchase from Tri-City Transport.

March 1996 Company launches state and long distance service.

August 1996 VVT relocates Moss and Rocovich law firm to new headquarters.

February 1997 VVT earns second "Best Moving Company" award by readers of The Roanoker magazine.

March 1997 Matt Mitchell named Operations Manager.

April 1997 Company expands fleet with purchase of VVT 105.

August 1997 Jesse "Chip" Lawrence named Vice President.

May 15, 1998 Virginia Varsity celebrates 10th Anniversary.

August 1998 VVT's largest overall move: five trucks and 34,000 pounds from Northern Virginia to Salem.

October 1998 Purchase closing of headquarters property.
Nov. 20, 1998 Purchase new International 4700 Series S truck, VVT 108.

Dec. 8, 1998 Ground breaking for new headquartes and self storage facility.

February 1999 VVT named "Roanoke's Best Mover" for fourth year by readers of The Roanoker magazine.

May 1999 Self storage and moving headquarters open on Starkey Road.

February 2000 Construction begins on 37,000-square-foot self storage expansion. Expansion will offer approximately 10,000 square feet of premium climate controlled space.

February 2000 VVT named "Roanoke's Best Mover" for fifth year by readers of The Roanoker magazine.

August 2000 Phase Two opens for business.

October 2000 Purchase of 7.1 acre tract on Apperson Drive for second storage facility.

October 2000 2000 Winner, Western Virginia Better Business Bureau Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics.

November 1, 2000 Longtime supervisor William Jones promoted to Supervisor Manager.

February 7, 2001 Construction begins on Apperson facility.
